Professor Yoon Kyung-chul of Jeonnam National University Hospital Wins Excellence Award at Ophthalmology Society Academic Conference
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam National University Hospital announced on the 7th that Professor Yoon Kyungcheol of the Department of Ophthalmology (Director of Planning and Coordination Office) recently won the Excellent Oral Presentation Award at the 128th Annual Meeting of the Korean Ophthalmological Society held at the Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul.
Professor Yoon's research team presented a paper titled "Drug Delivery Capability and Therapeutic Effect of pH-Responsive Cyclosporine A Delivery Contact Lenses in Two Models" at this academic conference.
Professor Yoon developed two models of cyclosporine drug delivery contact lenses by applying pH-responsive materials.
This study demonstrated that the developed lenses can continuously deliver drugs on the eye surface for 12 hours, and animal experiments proved their therapeutic effects on inflammatory eye diseases such as dry eye syndrome.

Meanwhile, Professor Yoon has received academic awards nine times at the Korean Ophthalmological Society meetings since 2006, including the Allergan Academic Research Award twice and the Most Cited Paper Award once.
