Ulsan Office of Education Promotes School Space Restructuring Support Project for Credit System-Type Schools... Creating Multipurpose and Multifunctional Spaces
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Duyul] Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is promoting a credit system-type school space restructuring project to support the successful establishment of the high school credit system on site.
With the introduction of the high school credit system, schools operate various elective subjects tailored to students' career paths and aptitudes, requiring the creation of shared learning spaces with multipurpose and multifunctional features.
Ulsan Office of Education has allocated a budget of 1.4 billion KRW for 71 rooms in 9 high schools within the jurisdiction after collecting demands and opinions from the school sites, and held a project briefing and a meeting with work managers in September.
The target spaces for the project are aged subject classrooms and support spaces such as libraries, counseling rooms, and conference rooms that have been in use for more than seven years. The project supports the purchase of equipment and facility construction costs to increase space utilization.
The credit system-type school space restructuring project is conducted with a user-participation-centered design, where school members including teachers and students directly participate in space design.
The restructuring proceeds according to the principles of creating credit system-type school spaces, such as the linkage between space and curriculum, flexibility of learning spaces, and efficiency of movement paths.
Ulsan Office of Education announced that in preparation for the full-scale implementation of the high school credit system in 2025, it plans to complete the creation of credit system-type school spaces in all general high schools within the jurisdiction by 2024 through the ongoing introduction of credit system-type subject classrooms and the credit system-type school space restructuring support project.
