Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Holds Industry Meeting on Improving Safety Management System for Performance Venues

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is promoting improvements to safety management systems, including supplementing disaster response manuals for performance venues, to prevent mass crowd accidents in the wake of the Itaewon tragedy.
On the afternoon of the 3rd, Jeon Byeonggeuk, the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, held a "Performance Safety Field Meeting" at the Performance Venue Safety Support Center in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, to listen to on-site opinions for supplementing the performance safety management system.
The meeting was attended by Jang Kyungmin, Vice Chairman of the Korea Small Theater Association; Lee Jonghyun, President of the Korea Popular Music Performance Industry Association; Shin Wongyu, Director of the Korea Popular Music Performance Industry Association; Go Kyunghwan, Head of Safety Management at CJ E&M; Kim Youngshin, President of the Performance Venue Managers Association; and Kim Donggyun, Director of the Performance Venue Safety Support Center.

Through the meeting, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to gather suggestions from the performance industry and related associations on improvements related to performance safety management and prevention of crowd accidents at performance venues, and to prepare supplementary measures for the performance safety management system.
