Hansung Baekje Museum Publishes 'Baekje Pottery' Catalog with 355 Baekje Earthenware Items
Selected Artifacts from 2011 to 2021 Collections Included
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Hansung Baekje Museum is publishing a photo-centered catalog book titled "Baekje Pottery," which compiles Baekje earthenware among its collected artifacts.
The newly published Baekje Pottery catalog is the final volume in the "Korean Ancient Pottery Series," following Gaya Pottery and Silla Pottery. It encompasses the entire history of Baekje pottery collection by the Hansung Baekje Museum, which acquired or received donations of Baekje pottery over ten years from 2011, when the museum's establishment was being promoted, until 2021.
This book, Baekje Pottery, contains photos and descriptions of 335 Baekje-era pottery pieces collected by the Hansung Baekje Museum. The pottery is introduced in the order of forms: jars, plates, three-legged pottery, bari and wan, and containers with lids. Additionally, it includes a manuscript analyzing the pottery by Kim Jong-man, former director of the National Gongju Museum and an authoritative scholar on Baekje pottery.
The Hansung Baekje Museum distributes its published books free of charge to libraries and related institutions throughout Seoul. This Baekje Pottery catalog will also be available for viewing through the Seoul Library and the Hansung Baekje Museum website in November. Citizens wishing to purchase the book can buy it at Seoul Bookstore located on the B1 floor of Seoul City Hall.
