According to the People Power Party, as an emergency action guideline during the national mourning period, the party’s organization department distributed related instructions including careful attention to language and behavior, refraining from unnecessary public activities, avoiding drinking and posting on social media, and wearing black ribbons at official events.
The People Power Party stated, "As the ruling party, we ask for full cooperation with the action guidelines at the local level so that we can swiftly establish accident response and preparedness measures to protect the lives and safety of the people."
The People Power Party leadership expressed condolences by wearing black suits and ties at the emergency committee meeting held at the National Assembly on the same day.
Jin-seok Jeong, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, paid respects at the joint memorial altar for the victims of the Itaewon accident set up at Seoul Plaza. At the meeting, Chairman Jeong said, "We will conduct a comprehensive reexamination of the social safety net," adding, "We will upgrade it to an advanced country level and properly allocate the budget."
Chairman Jeong continued, "Hateful expressions stigmatizing the victims are already spreading on social media, and baseless rumors about firefighters and police officers are being circulated," emphasizing, "Now is not the time for accusations but for mourning. It is a time to share sorrow and pray. We ask that you calmly observe the government’s accident response and support measures with mature civic awareness."
