'Reopening of Dream Closet'... Busan City and Parkland Collaboration, Free Formal Wear Rental Service for Youth Employment
6,600 Applicants for Support by August Deadline, Around 400 Apply After October 1st Operation Resumption
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The Busan Metropolitan City will resume the ‘Dream Closet’ service this month, which had been suspended since the end of August.
Launched in 2018, the ‘Dream Closet’ project is a service that provides free rental of interview suits to young people in the Busan area. It has been highly praised as a youth employment support policy with high satisfaction among job-seeking youth.
This year, the project was scheduled to end in 2022 as the application period for the target of 6,600 applicants closed at the end of August.
However, ahead of the second half employment season, to ease the economic burden on Busan’s youth and support their job search activities, Busan City and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency collaborated with Parkland to resume the ‘Dream Closet’ from October 1, and as of the 20th, about 400 people have applied.
The ‘Dream Closet’ is available to any job-seeking youth aged 15 to 34 who reside in Busan or are enrolled (including on leave) at universities located in Busan. They can rent interview suits (jackets, pants, skirts, shirts, blouses, etc.) and accessories (shoes, belts, ties, etc.) free of charge.
To use the service, applicants must reserve their preferred rental store (branch) and visit date (time) through the Busan Youth Platform ‘Youth G-Dae’ or the Busan Job Information Network’s ‘Dream Closet’ section, receive an approval message, and then visit the rental store Parkland (Gwangbok branch, Bugok branch, Deokcheon branch).
Each person can use the service up to five times per year, and rented suits must be returned within four days from the rental date.
Since 2019, Parkland has provided the ‘Dream Closet’ service free of charge to over 5,300 young people as part of its community contribution, and it has confirmed it will continue to provide free support until the 2023 project resumes.
