Academy of Arts 'Theater as Enchantment, Four Actors' Monologues'
Autobiographical Theater Theory Featuring Park Jeongja, Oh Hyunkyung, Son Suk, Lee Hojae
The National Academy of Arts of Korea will hold the Arts Academy Theater Forum "Theater as Fascination, Four Actors' Monologues" at 3 p.m. on the 26th at the Daloreum Theater of the National Theater. Four members of the Academy and leading Korean theater artists?Park Jeong-ja, Oh Hyun-kyung, Son Sook, and Lee Ho-jae?will each perform a monologue from a representative work on stage. The direction and script are handled by Academy members Kim Jeong-ok, Lim Young-woong (both artistic directors), Yoon Dae-sung (dramaturg), and Son Jin-chaek (director).
Park Jeong-ja unfolds a story like moonlight on the beach through "In the Dream, I Was Kind." Oh Hyun-kyung speaks about self-esteem as an actor with a passage from "Spring Day." Son Sook discusses humanity and fear in "My Most Naive Self," and Lee Ho-jae contemplates confronting meaninglessness with "Macbeth."
The Academy stated, "This is an autobiographical theater theory presented by actors with 50 years of experience," adding, "It will be an opportunity to share moments of fascination with theater, reasons for starting theater, the true charm of theater, and what theater should aspire to."

After the performance, there will be a time for communication with the audience. Lee Geun-bae, Lee Jong-sang, and Shin Su-jeong from the Academy will discuss under the theme "Theater Stories as I See Them." The Academy said, "Theater is an art form where actors and audiences directly face each other to empathize and exchange emotions," and added, "It will help relieve the cultural thirst and desire caused by social isolation due to the spread of COVID-19."
