Co-Chair of Assembly Highly Praises Strengthening of Korea-NATO Cooperation
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] On the 20th, Foreign Minister Park Jin met with the delegation of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Parliamentary Assembly to discuss cooperation measures between Korea and NATO.

View original imageMinister Park said during the meeting with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly delegation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Jongno-gu in the morning, "Your visit comes just four months after President Yoon Seok-yeol attended the NATO summit held in Madrid, Spain, last June," adding, "This is evidence that cooperation between Korea and NATO is increasing."
Minister Park explained, "Korea has been strengthening its partnership with NATO as an observer country based on shared values of democracy and the rule of law," and "As an observer of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Korea has been actively promoting parliamentary exchanges with NATO."
Minister Park also mentioned that he had engaged in multiple exchanges with NATO in the past while serving as a member of the National Assembly and as the chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee of the National Assembly.
Marcos Perestello, co-chair of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, responded, "Although NATO and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly are institutionally separate, we highly appreciate the strengthening of cooperation between Korea and NATO."
Co-chair Perestello stated, "Recently, NATO adopted a strategic concept emphasizing the importance of the Indo-Pacific region," and added, "We share common challenges and need to work more closely to uphold rules based on the global order."
