Chungnam, Free Influenza Vaccination for Elderly
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province announced that starting from the 17th, free influenza vaccinations will be provided to seniors aged 70 and older.
Eligible individuals can receive the vaccination at public health centers and designated medical institutions without a separate prior reservation. Vaccinations for those aged 65 to 69 will begin on the 20th of this month.
Influenza vaccinations can be administered simultaneously with the COVID-19 vaccine. However, when given at the same time, the COVID-19 vaccine is injected into the left arm, and the influenza vaccine into the right arm to differentiate the injection sites.
After vaccination, recipients must wait at the vaccination site for 20 to 30 minutes to monitor for any adverse reactions before returning home.
Previously, the province designated 1,413 local medical institutions as entrusted medical institutions to facilitate influenza vaccination for eligible individuals.

A provincial official stated, “This year, there is a high possibility of a twin-demic with simultaneous outbreaks of COVID-19 and influenza,” and urged, “Children, pregnant women, and seniors who belong to high-risk groups should actively engage in infectious disease prevention and management.”
