National Maritime and Fisheries Museum 'Sinan-gun' Identified as Optimal Location
Shinan County Fisheries Cooperative and Related Military Fisheries Organizations and Groups Engage in Attraction Activities
[Sinan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] On the 4th, Jeonnam Sinan-gun announced that about 100 members of Sinan-gun Fisheries Cooperative and the Korea Fisheries Management Association Sinan-gun Federation gathered in front of the entrance of Sinan-gun Fisheries Cooperative to promote the attraction of the National Maritime Fisheries Museum.
The National Maritime Fisheries Museum is a complex marine cultural facility with a national budget of 124.5 billion won. As its construction in Jeonnam became visible, seven cities and counties including Sinan-gun have entered the full-scale competition to attract it.
Accordingly, related institutions and organizations in the fisheries sector of Sinan-gun have rolled up their sleeves to attract the construction of the National Maritime Fisheries Museum.
The head of Sinan-gun Fisheries Cooperative said, “Sinan-gun possesses superior fishery resources compared to other cities and counties, as well as nationally important fishery heritage such as solar salt industry, barehanded octopus fishing, and skate fishing, natural heritage such as Dadohaehaesang National Park and Sinan Mudflat Provincial Park, and cultural heritage such as Jasan Eobo,” adding, “Fisheries institutions and organizations will take the lead to ensure that the National Maritime Fisheries Museum is attracted to Sinan-gun.”
Also, Choi Myung-gap, president of the Korea Fisheries Management Association Sinan-gun Federation, emphasized, “Sinan-gun has clean and vast pristine seas and the Sinan mudflats registered as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage,” and “It is natural that the National Maritime Fisheries Museum is attracted to Sinan-gun, which greatly contributes to the conservation of marine biodiversity and marine ecosystems.”
