The New Name for Plogging, 'Jupging'... Silla University Department of Physical Education Launches Environmental Protection Campaign at Baekyangsan
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Dooyul] The Department of Physical Education at Silla University conducted a 'plogging' campaign along the Busan Baekyangsan Galmaetgil on the 29th.
'Plogging (jupging)' is the Korean term for the global trend 'plogging,' a voluntary environmental movement that involves picking up trash while jogging or walking.
About 60 students from the Department of Physical Education walked the hiking trail from the Baekyangsan Silla University entrance to the Health Spring and the Galmaetgil area, practicing environmental protection and promoting the plogging campaign.
The event began with a proposal from first-year students to start practicing environmental protection around the university as awareness of climate crisis response and environmental protection has recently increased.
The students carefully examined even the grass and crevices of stones, places they usually paid little attention to, collecting trash and engaging in environmental cleanup.
They greeted Baekyangsan hikers warmly, informing them of the importance of environmental protection and encouraging participation in the plogging campaign.
