Asian Stars Shine in Busan... Mario Maurer → Tsumabuki Satoshi to Attend
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Asia's dazzling stars are heating up Busan this year.
The 27th Busan International Film Festival revealed its lineup of notable Asian guests from Japan, Thailand, India, and more on the 29th.
Four lead actors from the newly established Jiseok section's official selection, "6 Characters," will visit Busan. Mario Maurer, known as the "Won Bin of Thailand," will walk the red carpet this year. He first connected with Korea when his debut film "Love of Siam" (2017) was invited to the 12th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, and he proved his box office power with Thailand's first 10-million viewer film "Pee Mak" (2013). He also served as an honorary ambassador for Korean tourism in 2011.
Actors Natapohn Tameeruks, recognized for their acting in Thai dramas "Nakee" (2016) and "Two Cities Story" (2017), supermodel-turned-actress Kemanit Chammakorn, and Thai drama star Taksorn Paksochareon, who has 5.7 million SNS followers, will also attend.
News of Indian film stars visiting Korea continues. Actor Adil Hussain, who appeared in films such as "Life of Pi" (2012), "Good Morning Manhattan" (2012), and the drama "Star Trek: Discovery" (2020), previously visited Busan when "Hotel Nirvana" and "Travellers" (2019) were invited to the 24th Busan International Film Festival's A Window on Asian Cinema. This year, he returns to Busan with "Storyteller" and "Max and Min, and Miyazaki," invited to the Jiseok section and Open Cinema, respectively.
Director Nandita Das and actor Kapil Sharma from the Indian film "Delivery Boy" (2022), selected for A Window on Asian Cinema, will attend.
Japanese actors such as Satoshi Tsumabuki and Sakura Ando have also announced their trip to Busan. Rising star Arashi Rina will make her Asian debut with "My Small Land," selected for this year's special program "New Wave of Japanese Cinema."

This year's Busan International Film Festival will be held from the 5th to the 14th of next month around the Busan Cinema Center.
