[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Chung-Ang University announced on the 18th that, as a result of closing the application process for the 2023 academic year early admission, a nationwide record number of 68,860 applicants applied, showing a competition rate of 24.7 to 1.
The competition rate of 24.7 to 1 is higher than last year's 22.24 to 1, which was recorded with 71,873 applicants. Although the number of recruits for the essay screening, usually the most competitive admission type, decreased compared to the previous year, the overall competition rate actually increased.
Looking at the main admission types, the essay screening had 34,248 applicants for 487 recruits, recording a competition rate of 70.32 to 1. The comprehensive student record screening had 17,522 applicants for 934 recruits, with a competition rate of 18.76 to 1.
The department with the highest competition rate was the Medical Department under the essay screening, showing a competition rate of 238 to 1. Following that, in the essay screening, the Pharmacy Department had 126.77 to 1, the Media Communication Department 107.22 to 1, the Department of Political Science and International Relations 99.67 to 1, and the Software Department 99.35 to 1, in order of high competition rates.

In the comprehensive student record screening, the Department of Life Sciences recorded the highest competition rates with 99.33 to 1 for Da Vinci-type talents and 51.67 to 1 for Inquiry-type talents. In the practical skills screening (practical type), the Department of Performing Arts and Film Creation, Theater (Acting) major, had a high competition rate of 101.71 to 1.
