Baek Hyun-jin "Holding a Forum on Support Measures for K-Content Companies' Overseas Expansion"
"Supporting K-Content Companies' Overseas Expansion
Through Provision of Local Overseas Legal Information"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] A forum to explore ways to support the overseas expansion of 'K-content' companies will be held at the National Assembly on the 7th.
On the 6th, Bae Hyunjin, a member of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee of the National Assembly from the People Power Party, announced that a policy forum titled "Support Measures for the Overseas Expansion of K-Content Companies," hosted by the Korea Game Industry Association and the Korea Creative Content Agency and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will be held at the National Assembly Experience Hall auditorium.
The Korean content market is worth approximately 136 trillion won, with exports totaling 14 trillion won. Since 2005, exports have grown by 15% annually. However, there have been setbacks in overseas expansion due to issues such as the Chinese government's refusal to issue licenses under the 'Hanhanryeong' (Korean content ban), the diversity of adult certification standards by country, and differences in rating review criteria.
In response, Representative Bae plans to discuss measures to support K-content companies' overseas expansion by collaborating with various organizations to collect legal information from around the world using data mining technology and provide companies with customized in-depth information. A platform will be established to provide overseas local legal information and consultation to facilitate and increase the success rate of K-content companies' overseas expansion. This forum will propose the establishment and operation of a 'Hallyu-based knowledge information sharing platform,' going beyond a simple international legislative information sharing platform.
