View original image[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] It was a lack of finishing strength for Kim Se-young (29).
On the 4th (local time), at the final 4th round of the Dana Open (formerly Marathon Classic, total prize money $1.75 million) of the US LPGA Tour held at Highland Meadows Golf Club (par 71, 6,598 yards) in Sylvania, Ohio, USA, she finished with 1-under par and slipped to a tie for 13th place (12-under par 272). Starting from a tie for 4th place, 3 strokes behind, she aimed for a comeback victory but managed only 3 birdies and 2 bogeys.
Kim Se-young started shakily with bogeys on the 4th hole (par 4) and the 7th hole (par 5). She recovered the lost strokes with consecutive birdies on the 8th and 9th holes but made pars on the following 7 holes. She made a birdie on the 17th hole (par 5), but there were not enough holes left. Her shots were unstable, missing the fairway 6 times and the green 5 times. She also struggled on the greens, recording 30 putts. She had hoped to win this tournament for the first time in 3 years since 2019, but her dream was not realized. Since achieving her 12th career win at the Pelican Championship in November 2020, she has gone 1 year and 10 months without a title.

Especially impressive were her 3 consecutive birdies from the 16th to the 18th holes. Lopez is a 7th-year player who debuted on the LPGA Tour in 2016. This is her 3rd career win after victories at the Blue Bay LPGA in November 2018 and the Diamond Resort Tournament of Champions in January 2020, ending a 2 year and 8 month title drought. Her winner's prize money is $262,500 (approximately 350 million KRW).
