On this day, Mayor Hong Nam-pyo, Choi Dong-bin, Head of Hanwha Defense Changwon 1 Plant, Kim Tae-hyung, Director of Hanwha Defense Comprehensive Research Institute, and Baek Jeong-han, Director of Changwon Industry Promotion Agency attended. The event included watching a company introduction video, a meeting, a tour of the K9 self-propelled howitzer production line, and a test ride of the K9 self-propelled howitzer.
Currently, the city is fostering the defense industry as a future growth industry and is preparing a roadmap to become a city that leads the global defense industry beyond Korea by attracting advanced defense science technology and establishing an industrial cluster through equipment construction.
In addition, the city is promoting entry into the US defense procurement market worth 527 trillion won and has already held a strategic symposium for entering the US defense procurement market.
In October, in consortium with the Gyeongnam Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration, support will be provided to small and medium enterprises to attend AUSA 2022 (US Army Exhibition, October 10-12) and hold export consultation meetings.

Mayor Hong said, “I hope the Made in Changwon premium weapon systems will roam the global market,” and added, “I ask for continued efforts for the co-growth of the local defense industry through sharing the defense industry vision and win-win cooperation among large, medium, and small enterprises.”
