View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Yeongam County announced on the 31st that the "11th Yeongam Kim Chang-jo Gayageum National Competition" will be held from the 3rd to the 4th of next month at the Yeongam Gayageum Sanjo Memorial Hall.
The "11th Yeongam Kim Chang-jo Gayageum National Competition" is an event hosted by the Kim Chang-jo Sanjo Preservation Society and the Korean Sanjo Society, and organized by the Kim Juk-pa Yang Seung-hee Gayageum Sanjo Preservation Society.
This competition features two categories: Gayageum Sanjo and Byeongchang, and is divided into student and general divisions.
The preliminary rounds for elementary, middle, high school, and general divisions will be conducted via non-face-to-face video submissions, while the finals for the high school and general divisions will be held through on-site face-to-face judging. Awards include the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award (prize money of 10 million KRW) and the Minister of Education Award (prize money of 5 million KRW), among others.
The event, themed "Gayageum Sanjo Founder Kim Chang-jo's Sanjo Passed Down to South and North Korea," will highlight the history of the Gayageum, Kim Chang-jo's artistic world, and the artistic worlds of Living National Treasures Kim Juk-pa and Yang Seung-hee through video presentations.
Performances will be given by Living National Treasure Master Vocalist Ahn Sook-sun, Gyeonggi Minyo Living National Treasure Master Vocalist Lee Chun-hee, Honorary Professor Min Ui-sik, and Gayageum Sanjo Living National Treasure Master Yang Seung-hee.
