View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Dong-joo] On the 31st, Lee Jae-myung, the newly appointed leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, paid a courtesy visit to National Assembly Speaker Kim Jin-pyo and exchanged greetings. Speaker Kim congratulated Lee on his election and said, "Please leverage the experience you have built as Mayor of Seongnam and Governor of Gyeonggi Province to achieve great results in central politics as well."
Lee replied, "During the Seongnam mayoral election, you came to support my campaign and even treated me to an encouraging meal. As a senior politician with great capability, I received significant help from you." He added, "I fully agree with your usual remarks that the core of people's livelihood is the economy and that cooperation between the ruling and opposition parties is important."

He continued, "Of course, you will act neutrally, but since your political home was the Democratic Party, please do not forget your special interest in your home party," adding, "The Democratic Party will not engage in any unfair acts, and we will respect the will of the people and do our best centered on the people."
