Mokpo Municipal Gugak Center Hosts the 23rd Autumn Night Gugak Grand Festival

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] The Mokpo City Gugak Center will enliven the autumn night atmosphere with a Gugak performance at Bukhang Sunset Park at 7:30 PM on the 1st of next month.
Under the theme of "The 23rd Autumn Night Gugak Grand Festival: Drunk on the Sunset," this performance will feature a lively and diverse program that communicates and entertains the audience with Gugak songs, Namdo folk songs, Gyeonggo dance, Daegum Sanjo, Pungut, and more.
The opening performance will be the OST from the movie Sado, "Like Flowers Blooming and Falling," played together with saenghwang, gayageum, daegum, and piano, delivering emotion through the condensed expression of Sado's life and sorrow.
Additionally, traditional dances enhanced with creative elements will be presented, such as the Gyeonggo dance, which showcases splendid skills while holding a small janggu in one hand, and Hyangbalmu, where performers hold and strike the hyangbal, a type of jing, producing sound.
A city official said, "We have prepared a performance that can gift citizens, who have endured difficult times due to COVID-19 and the heatwave, with emotion and excitement," adding, "We will continue to provide various performances so that citizens can enjoy culture and arts in their daily lives."
