Fly from Incheon to Qingdao... Air Busan Launches New Route Starting September
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Duyul] Air Busan will launch a new route between Incheon and Qingdao starting this September.
With this new route, Air Busan becomes the only domestic airline operating the Qingdao route from both Incheon Airport and Gimhae Airport.
Air Busan will begin regular weekly flights on the Incheon-Qingdao route starting from the 2nd of next month.
The flight departs from Incheon International Airport every Friday at 10:15 AM and arrives at Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport at 10:55 AM.
The return flight departs from the local airport every Friday at 3:00 PM and arrives at Incheon International Airport at 5:40 PM.
The flight time is approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes, and the aircraft deployed will be an A321neo with 232 seats.
Air Busan also operates the Busan-Qingdao route once a week on Thursdays from Gimhae International Airport, and with this new departure from Incheon, it becomes the only domestic airline operating the Qingdao route from two airports: Incheon and Gimhae.
For passengers, this means the advantage of a dualized entry and exit system, allowing departures from Gimhae Airport and arrivals at Incheon Airport depending on their schedule, thereby expanding travel and airport options.
The increase in domestic airlines operating flights to and from Qingdao is expected to enhance convenience for domestic travelers.
The Qingdao route has steady demand from essential travelers such as visiting relatives, international students, and business trips, but there have been inconveniences due to the limited number of domestic airline operations.
Currently, two Chinese airlines operate the Incheon-Qingdao route, while only one domestic airline operates it.
In August alone, out of approximately 4,000 passengers on the Incheon-Qingdao route, 3,000 used Chinese airlines, indicating a significant imbalance.

An Air Busan official stated, “The Qingdao route holds great attachment and importance as Air Busan was able to obtain permission to operate the Busan-Qingdao route despite the COVID-19 unified entry policy, making it the only international route resumed from a regional airport. With the launch of the Incheon-Qingdao route, passengers will be able to travel more conveniently between Busan and Seoul, the two major hubs of South Korea, and Qingdao, greatly enhancing passenger convenience.”
