Daejeon City Temporarily Lifts Weekday Car Usage Restrictions Before Chuseok Holiday
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City announced on the 30th that it will temporarily lift the weekday car operation restriction from the 5th to the 9th of next month to facilitate citizen mobility before Chuseok.
During this period, operating a vehicle will not be considered a violation of the weekday restriction. Considering that the Chuseok holiday from the 10th to the 12th falls on weekends and public holidays, the weekday car operation restriction will effectively not apply until the 12th.
However, subscribers with OBD devices installed for private insurance benefits should be cautious, as insurance company regulations apply independently of the city's lifting of the weekday car operation restriction.
The weekday car operation restriction is a citizen voluntary practice where owners of non-commercial passenger cars with up to 10 seats registered in the region do not operate their vehicles for one day from Monday to Friday.
Vehicles participating in the weekday car operation restriction can receive benefits such as ▲10% discount on automobile tax (up to 18% if paid in advance) ▲50% discount on public parking fees ▲10% discount on vehicle inspection fees (excluding the Korea Transportation Safety Authority).

However, if a driver violates the non-operation day more than 10 times a year, the 10% automobile tax reduction benefit for that year will be canceled, and various benefits such as public parking fee discounts will no longer be available.
