Gathering Public Opinions on the '2022 Revised Curriculum'... Final Confirmation by Year-End
Public Participation Communication Channel Opens on the 30th
Collecting Public Opinions Until September 13
First Reflection After Discussion by the Revision Promotion Committee
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Education is collecting public opinions on the draft of the '2022 Revised Curriculum'.
The Ministry of Education announced that starting from the 30th, it will open the 2022 Revised Curriculum Public Participation Communication website and collect opinions for 15 days until September 13. It provides the general overview of the 2022 Revised Curriculum, subject curriculum drafts, and development guidelines to encourage public participation.
The draft of the 2022 Revised Curriculum will also be disclosed through the public participation communication website. Since announcing the major points of the 2022 Revised Curriculum general overview last November, the Ministry has prepared the draft together with a permanent curriculum development consultative body composed of experts from various fields and a curriculum development policy research team.
In the general overview, it specifies guidelines for organizing and operating school curricula that foster basic digital literacy across all subjects, strengthen student-tailored education, introduce autonomous school hours, and support the establishment of digital-based teaching, learning, and evaluation systems.
Previously, there was no procedure to disclose drafts through public communication channels, but from this revised curriculum onward, a public opinion collection process has been added before the public hearing.
After reviewing the curriculum draft, all citizens who wish, including students, parents, and field teachers, can submit their opinions on the public participation communication website. Opinions can be submitted under each draft posted in the 'Participation Communication Room' on the website, and submitters can choose whether to make their opinions public.
The Ministry of Education plans to discuss and review the opinions raised on the public participation communication website with the curriculum draft development policy research team and the 'National Curriculum Revision Promotion Committee' and reflect them primarily in the curriculum draft. In the future, it will continuously collect opinions through the public participation communication website in connection with public hearings on the general overview and subject-specific curricula.
