Lee Jeong-sik, Minister of Employment and Labor, reported assets worth approximately 1.659 billion KRW.
According to the high-ranking public officials' asset declaration details disclosed by the Government Ethics Committee on the 26th, Minister Lee declared a total of 1.659 billion KRW in assets belonging to himself, his spouse, mother, and eldest son.
This is an increase of about 150.71 million KRW compared to the 1.50829 billion KRW in assets disclosed in the National Assembly confirmation request during his ministerial nomination in April.
Minister Lee's assets include an apartment in Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi-do (1.264 billion KRW), farmland in Jecheon-si, Chungbuk (37.52 million KRW), deposits (59.72 million KRW), and stocks (209.16 million KRW).
Additionally, his mother declared a detached house in Jecheon, Chungbuk (26.6 million KRW) and deposits (28.91 million KRW), while his spouse and eldest son declared deposits of 20.75 million KRW and 12.86 million KRW, respectively.
The increase of over 100 million KRW in Minister Lee's assets in just over four months appears to be largely influenced by the rise in apartment prices.
When Minister Lee was serving as Secretary-General of the Korea Labor Foundation in March 2020, his assets were approximately 1.07449 billion KRW, but they increased by nearly 600 million KRW over two years.
