[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Kim Hyewon] Prime Minister Han Duck-soo said on the 24th, "We will continue to maintain the 'face-to-face visit restrictions' to prevent infections among the elderly during the Chuseok holiday period."
On the same day, Prime Minister Han chaired the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters meeting for COVID-19 at the Government Sejong Complex and stated, "We will focus even more on the management of nursing hospitals and nursing facilities."
Prime Minister Han emphasized, "This is the first holiday in three years without uniform social distancing," adding, "It is necessary to anticipate and prepare for blind spots in quarantine measures so that the holiday period does not negatively affect infection control." He also said, "We will fully consider experts' opinions to prepare quarantine measures for the Chuseok holiday and explain them to the public soon."
He also recommended vaccination participation for high-risk groups among children and adolescents. Prime Minister Han explained, "Vaccination is the most effective means not only for adults but also for protecting children and adolescents," and added, "The adverse vaccine reactions that people worry about are fewer in children and adolescents compared to the overall population, and most symptoms are mild."
