The ceremony, held in the auditorium on the 2nd floor of the 2nd Riot Police Unit, was attended by Commissioner Kim Byung-su, commanders of each riot police detachment, and riot police officers.
From this day forward, the 2nd Riot Police Unit of the provincial police agency will be operated as a mixed-gender unit, with 25 female officers added to the three male detachments.
The mixed-gender riot police unit, operated as a pilot program for the first time nationwide, will be deployed to various sites such as managing assemblies and demonstrations within the province and supporting public safety, receiving gender-neutral training.
Commissioner Kim said, “A single arrow can be easily broken, but when many arrows are gathered, it is difficult to break them,” adding, “If we take the initiative to resolve difficult issues first and show mutual consideration, we will be able to overcome even tough and challenging situations.”
He continued, “I hope you will also study related laws to acquire legal knowledge so that you can adapt well to various sites and perform your duties smoothly.”
