The Eulji Exercise is a nationwide drill conducted to review and supplement the effectiveness of wartime preparedness plans and to protect the lives and property of citizens in the event of a national emergency.
In Gwangjin-gu's Eulji Exercise, related organizations including the district office, Gwangjin Police Station, Fire Station, and Army Unit 3298 will participate. They will repeatedly practice and master wartime mission procedures through ▲emergency assembly training for public officials (22nd) ▲institutional dispersal and movement training (22nd) ▲operation of the wartime comprehensive situation room (22nd?25th) ▲civil defense evacuation training (24th) ▲actual training for terrorism situation preparedness (24th).
First, on the 22nd at 6 a.m., the district conducted an emergency assembly drill for all public officials following the declaration of the Eulji Level 3 emergency. The total number of attendees was 1,250, excluding those exempt such as those on educational dispatch, sick leave, leave of absence, and those with infants, and all responded.
At the ‘Eulji Exercise Initial Reporting Meeting’ held at 10 a.m., Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “Since the Eulji Exercise, which had been scaled down for five years due to COVID-19, is being conducted normally this year, we must prepare thoroughly and participate in the training without any gaps.”
He added, “I hope that this Eulji Exercise will not be a routine or formal drill but that everyone will participate as if it were real, establishing a perfect national emergency preparedness posture.”
The district plans to continue focusing on wartime transition procedure drills and actual emergency preparedness training during the remaining period of the Eulji Exercise, actively maintaining readiness.
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) signed a ‘Pet-Friendly City Business Agreement’ on the 22nd at the Gwangjin-gu Office Mayor’s Office with Konkuk University and the Seoul Tourism Foundation to promote tourism with companion animals.
This agreement was established to build a foundation for a pet-friendly city through cooperation among the private sector, academia, and government in the era of 15 million pet owners, to develop unique tourism content exclusive to Gwangjin-gu, and to realize PET-County, an international pet tourism city.
Through this agreement, the three organizations promised to ▲develop pet-themed tourism products and provide medical support through a private-academic-government collaboration system ▲develop pet tourism courses suitable for family trips ▲promote domestic and international tourism destinations through online and offline marketing.
As part of the pet culture project, Gwangjin-gu, Konkuk University, and the Seoul Tourism Foundation will hold a ‘Pet Festival’ and operate various pet programs, including providing ‘pet health check-up medical services’ for foreign tourists.
Additionally, they plan to develop pet-themed tourism products through collaborative governance using the Discover Seoul Pass (Seoul’s first tourist attraction free pass operated by the Seoul Tourism Foundation), install well-equipped pet playgrounds, and foster the pet industry.
They also plan to create a pet-friendly walking course from Achasan to Children’s Grand Park and offer a pet-friendly accommodation package called ‘Oh My Pet’ at Vista Walkerhill Hotel, establishing pet tourism courses suitable for family trips.
Furthermore, the district will actively promote tourism by collaborating with the Seoul Tourism Foundation to produce promotional materials and conducting cooperative projects with domestic new media influencers to attract tourists.
