Multinational WMD Prevention Joint Exercise in Hawaii with 21 Countries
The U.S. Department of State announced that it will conduct the joint exercise "Fortune Guard 22" for the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) in Honolulu, Hawaii.

According to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command on the 9th, the U.S. Department of State is conducting the joint exercise "Fortune Guard 22" for the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) from the 8th to the 12th (local time) in Honolulu, Hawaii.
This exercise involves 21 countries, including South Korea, the United States, and Japan, engaging in activities related to preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, ranging from whole-of-government decision-making, related information exchange, tabletop exercises, to actual interdiction drills. Depending on the host country, the exercise is renamed Eastern Endeavor (South Korea), Pacific Shield (Japan), Pacific Protector (Australia), Maru (New Zealand), etc.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Special Operations Command Korea (SOCKOR) released on Facebook the live-fire close air support conducted as part of the South Korea-U.S. joint exercise held at the Pilsung Shooting Range in Gangwon Province on the 27th and 28th of last month.
Live-fire close air support is air fire support conducted in coordination between ground forces and the air force, supporting ground operations through airstrikes using helicopters or fighter jets. The live-fire exercise involved F-16s from the U.S. Air Force 51st Fighter Wing's 36th Fighter Squadron and A-10 ground attack aircraft from the 25th Fighter Squadron.

The command emphasized, "This exercise enhances interoperability for the defense of South Korea" and described it as "a typical example of the shared commitment between South Korea and the U.S. for practical training."
