‘Punguna’ Daly "I Was Rejected by LIV Golf Because of My Age"
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] The 'maverick' John Daly (USA, photo) failed to join LIV Golf, sponsored by Saudi Arabian capital.
Golf Digest USA reported on the 4th (Korean time) that "Daly recently appeared on a British TV program called 'Pierce Morgan Uncut' and shared anecdotes about the LIV series." Daly said, "I begged Greg Norman (Australia), the representative of LIV Golf, to let me play in the LIV Golf Tour, but I was rejected," adding, "Norman said, 'You've done enough, and you're too old.'"
The LIV Golf Invitational Series mainly consists of players in their mid-to-late 40s to early 50s. It is difficult to include Daly, who is in his late 50s. Daly explained, "The PGA Champions Tour, where players over 50 compete, does not have large prize money," and added, "Older players deserve to compete in tournaments with bigger prize money, and I thought LIV Golf could be such an opportunity."
