Kwon Seong-dong, Acting Representative and Floor Leader of the People Power Party, and Park Hong-geun, Floor Leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, reached a final agreement on the second half parliamentary organization at a meeting chaired by National Assembly Speaker Kim Jin-pyo. The National Assembly was normalized 54 days after the first half session ended.
The contentious Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting and Communications Committee and the Public Administration and Security Committee will be divided between the ruling and opposition parties for one year each. The People Power Party will take the chairmanship of the Public Administration and Security Committee, and the Democratic Party will take the Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting and Communications Committee, with a swap planned for next year.
