[Photo] Incheon Airport Preparing for 100 Million Air Passengers Era... First Media Reveal of Phase 4 Construction Site
On the 20th, Incheon International Airport Corporation publicly unveiled the Phase 4 construction site to the media for the first time. This project, which has been underway since November 2017 with a budget of 4.8 trillion KRW to prepare for an era of 100 million air passengers, includes the expansion of Terminal 2, the construction of a new fourth runway, and the enhancement of aprons and connecting transportation networks. The project is currently nearing 50% completion and is on track for completion in 2024.
Upon completion of the Phase 4 construction, Incheon Airport's annual passenger capacity will increase from the current 77 million to 106 million, aircraft takeoffs and landings will rise from 500,000 to 600,000 per year, and air cargo handling will grow from 4.5 million tons to 5 million tons annually. Notably, Incheon Airport will become the world's first airport to have two passenger terminals each capable of accommodating over 50 million passengers, making it the third-largest airport globally in terms of international flights.
