Andong Danhobak Begins 'First Export' to Japan... Export Loading at Waryong Nonghyup Production Distribution Center
40 Farms in Waryong-myeon and Dosan-myeon Produce 200 Tons, Entirely Exported to Japan
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The 2022 Andong Danhobak (Kabocha pumpkin) is set to be actively exported to Japan.
On the 19th, the first loading for the export of Andong Danhobak produced by the Waryong Honey Danhobak Farming Group took place at the Waryong Nonghyup Production Area Distribution Center in Andong.
The Danhobak being exported this time was produced by about 40 farms in the Waryong-myeon and Dosan-myeon areas, where there is a large temperature difference between day and night and high sunlight exposure. The total export volume is expected to be around 200 tons.
Products with vivid color and uniform size are selected and exported through exporters at 900 KRW per kilogram.
Andong Danhobak is popular in Japan, a major export country, due to its high sweetness and excellent quality, establishing itself as a major source of income for farmers during the summer season.
Known as Honey Danhobak, Andong Danhobak is an eco-friendly food that requires almost no pesticide use because it is more resistant to drought and pests compared to other vegetables.
The sugars in Danhobak are easily digested and absorbed, making it beneficial for people with weak stomachs or recovering patients such as postpartum mothers. Especially rich in beta-carotene, it is known to have anti-cancer effects, as well as benefits for cold prevention, skin beauty, and constipation relief, making it a healthy food for the summer season.
