Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter: An Urban Art Journey Painted by the Four Seasons
Nature Labs Second Media Art Exhibition - Fragments of Time: Seasons
[Asia Economy Reporter Yongjun Cho] Artistic journeys enjoyed within the city are gaining popularity. Since opening in May last year, Nature Labs, which hosted Flower by Naked Hongdae visited by 200,000 people, has returned with its second media art exhibition, Fragments of Time: Seasons.
Fragments of Time: Seasons, held at the Hongdae complex cultural space Nature Labs, is a media art exhibition expressing the beauty of Korea's four seasons based on the main concept of "Leaning on time, staying in the seasons."
Flower art using flowers representing each season and videos from over 70 beam projectors blend together to create a unique space-time that is sometimes lyrical, sometimes beautiful, and sometimes mysterious.
Compared to the previous exhibition, three new zones have been added, and various responsive media technologies have been introduced.
The exhibition space, composed of 11 zones blending spring, summer, autumn, winter, and the four seasons, incorporates various elements of media art, providing not only visual enjoyment but also time for reflection.
Each zone features distinctive installations and flowers that enhance immersion in the exhibition. The Memory of Scent zone, where the scent of a self-formulated floral diffuser harmonizes with flower art to create a dreamy atmosphere; the Big Book zone, a large book-shaped structure expressing the changing beauty of the four seasons through the flow of time; and the Lyric zone of spring, which uses ink wash painting techniques in media art to evoke the ambiance of waterfalls and traditional Korean houses, all offer diverse artistic healing experiences.
The climax of this exhibition is the Blossom zone. Utilizing laser sensors, this space offers the pinnacle of media art. When touching the walls, petals scatter from all directions, and flower paths appear following footsteps. It transcends artworks seen only with the eyes, engaging all five senses and even the world of imagination to create a sense of wonder.
Chairman Min-gi Ma of Nature Labs stated, "In the previous exhibition, we expressed the story of the existence of the self through flowers, but this time, we reflected on ourselves who are losing our value of existence and expressed the process of regaining my memory, time, and ultimately the unique story of my existence through the seasons." He added, "I hope visitors will have a precious time to cherish and love themselves more through the exhibition."
After viewing the exhibition, visitors can relax at Nature Labs, a new form of media art cafe directly connected to the exhibition space.
The cafe Nature Labs, fully remodeled from the existing Flower Cafe Bites & Gonggan, is a special space where visitors can enjoy Baby Breath media art that responds to the fluttering of curtains and a cherry blossom tree decorated with paper flowers.
Enjoying signature drinks and desserts made from natural ingredients is a given. If you want to experience various artistic elements simultaneously and capture memorable photos, this is a must-visit place. The exhibition is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. year-round.
