Juhyung Kim "Ties for 13th Place Survive"... Seongjae Im, Kyunghoon Lee, Siwoo Kim, Bio Kim, Jaekyung Lee "All Miss Cut"
DP World Tour and PGA Tour Co-Hosted Genesis Scottish Open Day 2: Tied 13th at 1 Over Par, Tringalee Leads for Second Day
[Asia Economy Golf Specialist Reporter Kim Hyun-jun] World No. 61 Kim Joo-hyung (20, photo) is the only one who survived.
In the early morning of the 9th (Korean time) at the Renaissance Golf Club in North Berwick, Scotland (par 70, 7,293 yards), the second day of the Genesis Scottish Open (total prize money $8 million), co-hosted by the DP World Tour (European Tour) and the PGA Tour, Kim recorded 1-over par and stood tied for 13th place (1-under par 139). Starting at the 10th hole (par 5), he immediately made an eagle with a ‘2-on 1-putt’, along with one birdie and four bogeys.
Kim Joo-hyung was last year’s youngest triple crown winner on the Korean Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Korean Tour. He competed for the title in every tournament, including one win and three runner-up finishes in 14 events such as the SK Telecom Open in June. At the end of the year, he swept the money list title (?754.94 million), the Player of the Year award (5,540.56 points), and the lowest scoring average (69.16). After winning the Singapore International in January to become the Asian Tour money leader, he has recently been moving between the PGA Tour and other leagues, seeking to advance to the world league.
This tournament is especially a prelude to the oldest major, The Open Championship, which will continue on the 14th at the Old Course in St Andrews. He appeared as a ‘dark horse’ on a stage where top-ranked players gathered. He is six strokes behind the leader Cameron Tringale (USA, 7-under par 133) and still has plenty of room to push for the win. South Korea’s Im Sung-jae (24), Lee Kyung-hoon (31), Kim Si-woo (27, all CJ Logistics), Kim Bi-o (32, Hoban Construction), and Lee Jae-kyung (23) were all cut.

Gary Woodland (USA) is tied for 2nd place (4-under par 136), while US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick (England) and Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Xander Schauffele (USA) are tied for 4th place (3-under par 137). Schauffele, in particular, rose as a strong contender by recording a daily best 5-under par in strong winds, powered by an average of 1.58 putts per hole, a ‘stingy putting’ performance.

‘Top favorite’ Jon Rahm (Spain) remained tied for 20th place (even par 140), joined by playoff champion Patrick Cantlay and Jordan Spieth (both USA) in this group. It is interesting that Brandon Grace (South Africa), the champion of the second LIV Golf event led by Saudi Arabia, is tied for 29th place (1-over par 141). World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, and Justin Thomas (all USA) left the course early after struggling for two consecutive days.
