KEPCO Obtains Operating License for 'Baccarat Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3' from UAE Local Subsidiary

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] The UAE nuclear power plant operating corporation announced on the 19th that it has obtained the operating license for Barakah Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 from the UAE Nuclear Regulatory Authority.
The UAE nuclear power plant operating corporation is a joint venture between Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The license was granted on the 17th local time.
With this, Barakah Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 has entered full-scale preparation for operation following fuel loading. After the start of fuel loading, it will proceed through remaining processes such as stepwise power ascension tests and performance guarantee tests before commencing commercial operation.

Jung Seung-il, President of KEPCO, said, "Following the start of commercial operation of UAE Nuclear Power Plant Unit 2 in March, Unit 3 has achieved another milestone with fuel loading," adding, "We will also smoothly complete the commissioning process of Unit 3 to ensure the successful supply of clean power within the UAE."
