[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The Ministry of Justice will hold a Prosecutor Personnel Committee meeting on the 21st to discuss promotions and transfers for mid-level and higher executives. There is a possibility that personnel changes could be implemented on the same day.
According to the legal community on the 17th, the Ministry of Justice will hold a personnel committee meeting on the 21st to discuss personnel standards, principles, and candidates. It is known that the Ministry coordinated the schedule by informing external committee members of the meeting the day before.
If the Prosecutor Organization Reform Plan is approved at the Cabinet meeting on the morning of the 21st, the Ministry of Justice is expected to hold the personnel committee meeting in the afternoon. Promotions and transfers for mid-level and higher executives could also be carried out as early as the same day.

The Ministry of Justice skipped the personnel committee during the previous high-level prosecutor personnel changes. Minister Han Dong-hoon implemented personnel changes just one day after taking office, considering that the long-term vacancy could not be maintained and that investigations into major cases needed to proceed swiftly before the full removal of prosecutorial investigative powers (Geomsu Wanbak) in September. The Ministry also explained that holding a prosecutor personnel committee meeting is not mandatory. However, some raised concerns about procedural flaws. It appears that the Ministry’s decision to hold the personnel committee before this mid-level executive personnel change reflects this atmosphere.
