Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station Ensures Citizen Safety and Prevents Water Accidents During Summer
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Northern Fire Station announced on the 13th that it held the '119 Citizen Water Rescue Team Inauguration Ceremony,' a water play safety guardian event, on the 2nd floor of the Bitgoeul National Safety Experience Center's Social Disaster Response Hall to prevent summer water-related accidents and ensure citizens' safety.
The 119 Citizen Water Rescue Team will conduct water safety patrol activities and water play safety accident prevention education for vacationers twice a day in teams of two at the Gwangjuho Lake Ecological Park (located in Chung-hyo-dong, Buk-gu) on weekends and public holidays for two months from July to the end of August.
The 119 Citizen Water Rescue Team's waterside safety personnel consist of 40 volunteer firefighters who have completed training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, emergency response procedures, use of water rescue equipment, and water play safety guidance to enhance their expertise, and are expected to serve as guardians of citizen safety this summer.
Chief Lee Dong-young said, “I thank all the members of the Citizen Water Rescue Team who work hard for the safety of citizens,” and added, “We will do our best to operate the 119 Citizen Water Rescue Team so that citizens can have a safe summer this year as well.”
