According to the police on the 7th, the Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency summoned Ahn Jin-geol, director of the Minsheng Economy Research Institute, this morning to investigate the circumstances of the complaint. This is the third investigation following those on the 30th and 31st of last month.
In a phone call with Asia Economy, Director Ahn said, "We have completed investigations on two out of four complaints and are scheduled to be investigated on the remaining complaints on the 17th," adding, "We are investigating each of the total 16 charges one by one."
Earlier, on the 8th of last month, civic groups including the Minsheng Economy Research Institute filed complaints with the police against Minister Han, his spouse, and his eldest daughter on charges including obstruction of business and violation of copyright law. Subsequently, they filed additional complaints claiming there were charges of bribery under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes and evidence tampering related to the 'spec laptop donation suspicion.'
