US "Will Re-push North Korea Sanctions at UN Security Council"
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] The United States has expressed its intention to re-push sanctions against North Korea, which continues its nuclear missile provocations, at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, told reporters on the 31st (local time) that the recently rejected sanctions proposal against North Korea at the Security Council will "definitely be re-pushed."
Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield emphasized, "First, it is necessary to firmly implement the existing sanctions against North Korea, and additional sanctions will also be pursued."
Earlier, the United States submitted a sanctions proposal against North Korea to the Security Council based on UNSC Resolution 2397, but it failed to pass in the vote on the 26th as permanent members China and Russia exercised their veto rights.
