[Profile] Ju Youngchang, Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, Ministry of Science and ICT
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] Ju Young-chang, appointed on the 13th as the Head of the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau at the Ministry of Science and ICT, was born in 1965. He graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering and earned a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is currently a professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Seoul National University and has served as the director of the Next-Generation Convergence Technology Research Institute. He is recognized as a leading expert in the fields of semiconductors and materials engineering, primarily researching semiconductor and electronic device reliability, hybrid materials, and electronic materials.

He has held positions such as head of the University Technology Industry Support Group, dean of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Seoul National University, director of the Korean Institute of Metals and Materials, director and vice president of the Korean Microelectronics and Packaging Society, and specialist committee member under the government’s Committee on Competitiveness of Materials, Parts, and Equipment.
