Yoon's Legal Representative: "Kim Gwan-jeong Channel A Investigation Log Contains False Information and Biased Opinions"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Kim Gwan-jung, Chief Prosecutor of Suwon High Prosecutors' Office, who disclosed the progress of the 'Channel A case' on the prosecution's internal network, was rebutted by President Yoon Seok-yeol's disciplinary lawsuit representative, who claimed it contained "false information."
Son Kyung-sik, the lawyer representing President Yoon, criticized Kim's explanation on the 12th, saying, "He expressed a deliberately biased opinion and asserted facts that the defense team finds difficult to agree with."
Son further stated, "The statement (investigation log) you submitted to the Ministry of Justice's disciplinary committee may appear neutral and administrative to those unfamiliar with the content, but those who know can easily see how much false information it contains."
He pointed out, "You skipped several parts, such as how you directly received some materials from the Central District Prosecutors' Office investigation team, and why your memory differs so greatly from that of other chiefs who participated in the Supreme Prosecutors' Office chiefs' meeting, which is why it is called false."
He then demanded, "If you are confident in expressing your thoughts by disclosing the statement, then disclose the 27-page statement you wrote and submitted to the Administrative Court at the end of the lawsuit, not the statement submitted to the disciplinary committee."
On the 9th, when the confirmation hearing for Han Dong-hoon, the nominee for Minister of Justice, was held, Chief Prosecutor Kim disclosed the investigation log of the Channel A case that he had written during his time as head of the Criminal Division at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office on the prosecution's internal network. According to it, then Prosecutor General Yoon was furious that the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office did not report in advance to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office about the request for a search warrant for the residence of former Channel A reporter Lee Dong-jae, and ordered a report on the necessity of the search.
It also added that despite repeated requests from the Deputy Prosecutor General and the Chief of the Planning Division at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office to postpone the referral to the Special Investigation Advisory Panel, President Yoon ordered the referral to proceed.
