POSCO Demonstrates Technology by Mandated Supply of Future Transportation 'Hyperloop'
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] POSCO will supply steel for hyperloop tubes, recognized as an eco-friendly transportation means.
POSCO announced that it will supply 275 tons of hot-rolled steel for hyperloop tubes, developed jointly with Tata Steel Netherlands, to the European Hyperloop Center test track (450m) from June this year until December next year.
The pilot line is a hyperloop installed by Hart in Vinkhuizen, Groningen Province, Netherlands. It is a future eco-friendly transportation system that operates a magnetic levitation capsule inside a large vacuum tube at ultra-high speeds exceeding 1000 km/h.
Since 2020, POSCO has participated in the Dutch national project led by Hart, jointly developing hyperloop-dedicated steel and structural solutions with Tata Steel Netherlands.
Starting with this delivery, POSCO plans to supply an additional approximately 1,800 tons for the 2.7 km test line section by 2025.
