160,000 Student COVID-19 Cases Nationwide in One Week... 90,000 Decrease Compared to Previous Week

Four Consecutive Weeks of Decline Since 3rd Week of March
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] As the Omicron variant wave shows a declining trend, the number of COVID-19 confirmed student cases nationwide in the past week has also decreased by 90,000 compared to the previous week, recording in the 160,000 range.
According to the Ministry of Education on the 13th, from the 5th to the 11th, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among students in nationwide kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools was 166,823, averaging 23,832 cases per day.
The weekly student confirmed cases decreased by about 93,000 from 259,940 cases in the previous week (March 29 to April 4). The daily average confirmed cases also decreased by about 12,000.
Student confirmed cases have been declining for four consecutive weeks. They were 407,159 in the third week of March, 370,527 in the fourth week of March, and 259,940 in the fifth week of March.
Looking at the confirmed student cases by school level in the recent week, elementary students (85,989) were the highest, followed by ▲middle school students 40,561 ▲high school students 30,117 ▲kindergarten 9,405. The cumulative number of confirmed student cases this semester is 1,875,095.
The number of confirmed cases among faculty and staff during the same period was 18,350. The cumulative number of confirmed faculty and staff cases this semester is 163,458.
As of the 11th, 19,894 schools nationwide, accounting for 97.9% of the 20,329 schools, conducted full in-person classes. Schools conducting partial in-person and partial remote classes were 369 (1.8%), and schools conducting full remote classes were 8.
The number of students attending in-person classes on the 11th was 5,487,288, which is 93.4% of the 5,874,130 students.
86.47% (5,073,929 students) participated in the self-diagnosis app survey, among whom 1.58%, or 92,701 students, received guidance to refrain from attending school.

The number of confirmed university student cases in the recent week was 11,412, and confirmed faculty and staff cases were 1,831.
