[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The National Institute for International Education under the Ministry of Education is recruiting government-funded international students and government-funded trainees for 2022.
On the 5th, the National Institute for International Education announced the recruitment notice for the selection of government-funded international students for 2022, stating that applications will be accepted from next month 16th to 27th.
The government-funded international student selection and dispatch project has been in operation since 1977 to cultivate talents in strategic fields and basic academic fields necessary for national development.
The eligible research fields are future growth engine research, basic academic research, and individual country/region studies, supporting master's and doctoral programs at overseas universities in these fields for up to three years.
The number of selected candidates is a total of 64, including ▲40 for the general track ▲20 for the Kkumnarae track ▲4 for the technical and skilled worker track. The selection process consists of a first round document screening and a second round interview, which will be conducted as a blind interview.
The qualification for government-funded trainees is those who have graduated from specialized high schools or industry-demand customized high schools (Meister high schools) and are currently employed at small and medium-sized enterprises, with a total of 6 selected. After passing, candidates can choose their desired major field and receive training for up to six months at overseas training institutions or industries.
This year, to expand government-funded study abroad support for underprivileged groups, the eligibility criteria for the Kkumnarae track have been relaxed. In addition to the existing recipients of livelihood benefits and upper-class beneficiaries, persons with disabilities and disabled veterans under the National Veterans Act have been added.
For the technical and skilled worker track, the required work experience at small and medium-sized enterprises has been relaxed from two years to at least one year.
The government-funded study abroad scholarship supports up to three years, with payment amounts varying by country. Based on the United States, the general track receives $40,000, the Kkumnarae and technical/skilled worker tracks receive $50,000, and the technical and skilled worker government-funded training receives $25,000 (for six months).
