Won Il-hee, senior deputy spokesperson of the transition committee, stated at a briefing held on the afternoon of the 29th at the transition committee office in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, "As part of a broad opinion-gathering process related to the pledge to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, a communication plan with social organizations has been arranged."
Chairman Ahn is scheduled to meet representatives of the Korean Women's Associations United, the Korean Women Voters Association, and the YWCA Federation at 1:30 p.m. on the 30th. Members of the transition committee, including Im Eui-ja, a lawmaker from the People Power Party and secretary of the social welfare and culture division, will also attend.
The abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family is a key campaign pledge of President-elect Yoon, which has sparked strong opposition from women's organizations following his confirmed election. This meeting is part of the opinion-gathering phase in response to that.
