BTS Aims for First Grammy Trophy in Korean Popular Music
Nominated for 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance' Two Years in a Row
Departing for the U.S. on the 28th... Four U.S. Concerts Scheduled
The group BTS departed for the United States on the 28th to attend the Grammy Awards, the most prestigious pop music awards ceremony in the U.S. Members V, Jin, and Suga arrived at Incheon International Airport around 6:40 PM, briefly greeted fans and reporters, and then proceeded to the departure gate. Jungkook had already left earlier due to schedule related to the awards ceremony. J-Hope, who recently tested positive for COVID-19, plans to head to the U.S. after completing his quarantine.
They will attend the 64th Grammy Awards on the 3rd of next month (local time) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas as nominees. BTS was nominated for the 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance' category for the second consecutive year with their song "Butter." They will compete for the award against Coldplay ("Higher Power"), Doja Cat & SZA ("Kiss Me More"), Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga ("I Get A Kick Out Of You"), Justin Bieber & Benny Blanco ("Lonely"), among others. Last year, BTS was nominated with "Dynamite" but lost to Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande ("Rain On Me"). If they win this time, they will become the first Korean pop music artists to receive a Grammy trophy.
BTS will also perform at the ceremony for the third consecutive year. They performed a joint stage with Lil Nas X in 2020 and had a solo performance with "Dynamite" last year. Their performances have consistently drawn great attention, and they have been requested to deliver another spectacular stage this year. After the ceremony, BTS will prepare to meet their global ARMY (BTS fans). They will hold the "BTS Permission to Dance On Stage - Las Vegas" concerts four times in total on the 8th-9th and 15th-16th of next month at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
