Seoul Library Launches Nationwide Library Material Sharing 'Chaekbada Service'... Partial Support for Delivery Fees Provided
Materials from Other Public Libraries and University·Specialized Libraries Available at Our Neighborhood Library
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul Metropolitan Library announced on the 25th that it will partially support the round-trip shipping costs of the nationwide library materials shared use service, 'Chaekbada Service,' to improve Seoul citizens' access to information.
Seoul Metropolitan Library supported 5,308 cases (18,579,000 KRW) last year and plans to expand support to 6,756 cases (23,646,000 KRW) this year.
The Chaekbada Service is a national interlibrary loan service operated by the National Library of Korea. If the desired materials are not available at the frequently used library, users can request them from other libraries with agreements, enabling mutual use of held materials. Through the Chaekbada Service, Seoul citizens can use materials held by other public libraries, university libraries, and specialized libraries nationwide at their affiliated libraries.

Oh Ji-eun, Director of Seoul Metropolitan Library, stated, “By partially supporting the costs of the Chaekbada Service, we expect to meet the diverse demands of Seoul citizens for library materials and simultaneously expand convenience in using library resources.”
