StradVision, Benefiting from Autonomous Driving Growth with Advanced Technology
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] ResearchAlum introduced that the German automaker recognized StradVision, an unlisted company, as having technology equivalent to Mobileye.
StradVision is a deep learning software company for autonomous driving based on camera sensors. Its flagship product, SVNet, collects and learns driving data and environmental factors through camera sensors installed in vehicles. SVNet is an object recognition software that accurately identifies various situations that may occur during vehicle driving.
Researcher Seunghwan Lee of ResearchAlum explained, "Among autonomous driving and advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) sensors, the proportion of camera sensors is about 33%," adding, "The use of ADAS camera sensors necessary for direct safety-related functions such as emergency braking and forward collision warning is expected to increase."
He continued, "Currently, there are six companies worldwide supplying object recognition software to mass-produced vehicles," emphasizing, "Companies verified for their technology by German automakers and supplying mass-produced vehicles include StradVision and Mobileye."
Researcher Lee said, "We have conducted business both by utilizing cameras and chips ordered by customers as they are and by developing embedded ADAS software from the early stages," adding, "We are expanding market share by fully customizing according to automaker specifications."
He predicted, "Given the automotive industry's characteristic of avoiding monopolies in parts supply, the market share of Mobileye will decrease as new entrants with technological and price competitiveness enter."

Furthermore, he explained, "Mobileye leads the selection of hardware specifications equipped with cameras and software necessary for camera sensor assembly," adding, "This lowers the price competitiveness of automakers and first-tier suppliers." He emphasized, "StradVision has developed software that can be installed on various hardware without technical restrictions," and "provides an environment where customers can have diverse choices."
