14.11% Early Voting Rate at 4 PM... 'Jeonnam 23.30%' Highest Nationwide
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] As of 4 PM on the first day of early voting for the 20th presidential election on the 4th, the early voting rate was recorded at 14.11%. Although there are still two hours left until the close of voting on the first day, it has already surpassed the final first-day turnout rate (11.70%) of the 19th presidential election.
According to the National Election Commission on the day, out of 44,197,692 eligible voters nationwide, 6,236,909 participated in early voting from 6 AM to 4 PM, resulting in a nationwide early voting rate of 14.11%. This figure significantly exceeds the 9.45% turnout rate recorded at 4 PM on the first day of the 19th presidential election in 2017.
By region, the early voting rate in the Honam area far exceeded the national average.

In Seoul, 1,147,613 people participated in early voting, recording a turnout rate of 13.75%.

Relatively, Daegu (12.21%) and Ulsan (12.65%) did not reach the national average early voting rate, and Incheon (12.52%) and Gyeonggi (12.05%) also fell below the national average.
