View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] With the 'opposition unity' between Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, and Ahn Cheol-soo, the presidential candidate of the People’s Party, being achieved, former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon analyzed that "this is not a favorable situation for Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party."
On the night of the 3rd, on CBS Radio's 'One Match,' former professor Jin said regarding the unity, "The election campaign, in which Leader Lee Jun-seok had at least maintained the initiative, has now somewhat lost its color."
Former professor Jin pointed out, "Winning without unity was Leader Lee’s strategy," and added, "Isn't it the very people he criticized as Yoon Core Group (key associates of candidate Yoon) who took the lead in making the unity happen?"
He also mentioned the issues following the unity. He said, "Do you think candidate Ahn Cheol-soo just came in quietly? He will definitely challenge for party leadership," and noted, "When he tries to secure a position within the party, there is bound to be a clash with Leader Lee Jun-seok."
Furthermore, former professor Jin explained, "Upon the news of the unity, Leader Lee immediately stated, 'The principle of fair competition is open and applicable to anyone within the People Power Party, including those from the People’s Party,'" adding, "So there is no special consideration. According to the rules I set, you just come in below and compete," as a preemptive warning.

In addition, former professor Jin said, "Leader Lee Jun-seok’s role during the unity phase was quite problematic, with remarks like 'Isn't that too harsh, humanly speaking?' being made," and predicted, "The resentment over this remains strong among the People’s Party supporters. This unity will become a significant test of political skill for Leader Lee Jun-seok going forward."
