On the 2nd (local time), Ihor Terekhov, mayor of Kharkiv, and local rescue authorities reported that these casualties occurred due to Russian airstrikes and rocket attacks.
According to local media, Mayor Terekhov stated in a video message, "Kharkiv is a Russian-speaking city, and about a quarter of the residents have relatives in Russia," adding, "Now the city's attitude toward Russia is completely different from before."
